No chairlifts with weather protection covers, the village of Formigal is located about 1 km from the ski area.Description Formigal
The Formigal ski resort is one of the best in all of Spain. Between 2004 and 2006, many new chairlifts were built.
About 1 km from Formigal in Sextas, the new detachable eight-seater chairlift Sallent starts. There is also the new four-seater chairlift Furco, which was specially built for beginners. Alternatively, you can take the bus to Sarrios or Anayet to access the ski area.
From Sarrios, you can take the Cantal chairlift to the mountain station of the eight-seater chairlift and continue to the lifts below Pico Tres Hombres.
With the four-seater chairlift Collado, you reach the other side just below Pico Royo, from where wonderful slopes of all difficulty levels lead down to Anayet. Now you can enter the area newly developed in 2004, all the way to Portalet. The detachable six-seater chairlift Garmet takes you up to the pass, where the detachable six-seater chairlift Batallero from Portalet also ends.
The runs lead down treeless slopes from easy to intermediate back to the valley, and you can also take a detour into the deep snow here. In Portalet, there is also the four-seater chairlift Faballones and the six-seater chairlift Espelunciecha.
From Anayet, the detachable four-seater chairlift Anayet takes you back up just below Pico Royo, from where there is an easy, an intermediate, and several difficult runs down to Sarrios. The double chairlift Sarrios also starts here, taking you to the platter lifts below Pala de Ip and providing access to easy runs.
The platter lifts Huegas and Lanuza mainly serve intermediate runs. The Escarra platter lift is a highlight for experts, as several difficult runs, including some through rocky terrain, start from the top station.
Highly recommended are the runs below Pico Tres Hombres, which can be reached from Sarrios and Cantal. The long four-seater chairlift Crestas mainly serves intermediate runs, while the Tramacastilla platter lift gives access to very difficult runs that lead directly down to Sarrios.
From the lifts below Pico Tres Hombres and from the top station of the eight-seater chairlift, you can ski down to Sextas on several slopes. All the runs are on treeless slopes, except for the Bosque and Tosquera slopes, which lead down to Sextas.
Throughout the ski area, there are small huts as well as modern restaurants. The Restaurant Gemsbock is highly recommended, offering quality lunches at good prices. Beginners will find practice slopes at every major parking lot or base station.
The Formigal ski area offers suitable terrain for both beginners and experts. Formigal is a top ski resort in Spain and the Pyrenees.
