Access, Parking Falls Creek
The Falls Creek ski resort is located just under 400 kilometers northeast of Melbourne (a good 4.5-hour drive) and can be reached from Sydney in just over 7 hours by car. From Mount Beauty, the steep mountain road Bogong High Plains Road leads up to Falls Creek and ends there in winter. During the winter season, every vehicle must pay a resort entry fee. The toll station is located at Howman’s Gap, where all vehicles are checked. In addition, carrying snow chains is mandatory in the state of Victoria (including for 4WD/all-wheel drive vehicles). Snow chains can be rented in Mount Beauty. Failure to comply can result in hefty fines of several hundred dollars. By paying the resort entry fee, you are allowed to park in the designated parking areas in Falls Creek. You must always leave your receipt clearly visible in your car.
