The connecting cable car from Kandersteg to Elsigenalp is intended to provide a link from Kandersteg railway station over the Golitschepass (2,178 m, the highest point of the cable car) to Elsigenalp. This would make Elsigenalp accessible from Bern and the Swiss Midlands all year round, car-free and in comfort.
