Description Berwang/Bichlbach/Rinnen

In Bichlbach, the road splits: you can either park right in Bichlbach and glide into skiing fun with the Kombibahn Almkopf (eight-person gondolas and six-seater chairs with weather shields), or you can turn into the Berwanger Valley and drive up to Berwang at 1,336 meters, the highest village in the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena. From here, you can access the ski circuit just as easily as from any other lift.

The Sonnalmbahn, a detachable four-seater chairlift, takes you directly up to the Hochalm (1,610 m). This is also where the Kombibahn from Bichlbach ends. The runs down to Bichlbach offer beautiful forest descents of easy to intermediate difficulty. Back to Berwang, there is a wide, easy run that branches off to the Bärenbadlift in the upper section. Just before the Sonnalmbahn valley station, the slope splits again, and you can take the modern 10-person gondola Obere Karbahn I to float over to the 6-seater chairlift Thanellerbahn. The slopes below the 2,343-meter-high Thaneller are mostly easy to intermediate, and you can ski here up to almost 1,600 meters.

You reach the double chairlift Rastkopf by turning off from the upper part of the Thanellerkar and gliding along a long connecting trail to the valley station. From the Rastkopf (1,743 m), you can ski down to Rinnen, and a drag lift takes you back up to the Rastkopfbahn valley station. From the mountain station, you can also ski over gentle alpine meadows to the connecting Mooslift. The Mooslift provides the link to the Thanellerbahn. To return to the Sonnalmbahn, it is recommended to ski from the Thanellerkar to the Egghof Sun Jet, so you don’t have to push and can quickly float back up the mountain with the Sonnalmbahn.

There are cozy huts in the ski area for a break, such as the Kögele Hütte on the Rastkopf or the Heiterwanger Hochalm. Après-ski is not a major focus here, but there are some nice umbrella bars and sun terraces. There are also several venues in the village where you can end your day.
