Belalp is part of the Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch UNESCO World Heritage Site. The destination has committed to a environmentally and economically sustainable policy and the destination strategy states that CO2-neutral energy suppliers will be used where possible. The Belalp lift operator uses electricity sourced exclusively from local hydraulic power. The mountain huts use mainly regional produce. Flora and fauna conservation areas have been created.
