Description Bad Gastein/Bad Hofgastein – Schlossalm/Angertal/Stubnerkogel

From Bad Gastein, located directly behind the train station, the Stubnerkogel eight-seater gondola lift starts its journey. At the top of the 2,251 m high Stubnerkogel, you’ll find the Fun Center, the suspension bridge, the Felsenweg, and the viewing platforms.

From up here, various runs begin—directly back down to Bad Gastein, over to the Jungeralmbahn, or via the Stubneralm down into Angertal. The intermediate, wide run into Angertal leads over a flat trail for the final stretch into the valley. From the Angertal ski center (1,175 m), you can take the Angertal or Senderbahn lifts back up towards Stubnerkogel, or float towards Schlossalm with the Kasereben eight-seater gondola.

On Schlossalm, half a dozen more lifts are humming. The Hohe Scharte double chairlift takes you up to the 2,300 m high Hohe Scharte. From here, you can return to Schlossalm or carve down the 11 km long run, which first leads through high alpine terrain and then through forest, all the way down to Bad Hofgastein.

From there, you can take the Schlossalmbahn 10-seater gondola back up to Schlossalm. The runs to the Sendleitenbahn, a detachable four-seater chairlift with weather bubbles, are also highly recommended—in short, both beginners and advanced skiers will find a wonderful terrain up here on Schlossalm.

To get back to Angertal, you can use the easy run 31 or the intermediate run 32. The detachable four-seater chairlift with bubble then takes you back towards Bad Gastein. You can either ski down to the Burgstall drag lift and take it back to the mid-station of the Stubnerkogelbahn, or take the Senderbahn to Stubnerkogel.

All slopes in the area are excellently signposted. And if you don’t reach your destination in time, buses run from village to village after the lifts close. Throughout the Gastein Valley, you’ll also find many charming, rustic ski huts inviting you to take a break. The slopes are very well marked and groomed, and you’ll find long, beautifully graded runs.

On the valley run down to Bad Gastein, you should definitely stop at the Bellevue Alm. Warm up by the open fireplace and recharge for the rest of your descent.
