Evaluated by Skiresort.info, the world's largest test portal for ski resorts.
The evaluation is done as follows
Environmental protection of the ski resort Bad Gastein/Bad Hofgastein – Schlossalm/Angertal/Stubnerkogel
The Gastein Valley places great emphasis on environmental protection. Numerous ski buses operate free of charge between the villages and valley stations. The Bad Gastein train station is located directly at the valley station of the Stubnerkogelbahn. Access is very comfortable with escalators and a glass walkway. ÖBB (Austrian Federal Railways) offers a combined train and ski pass ticket.
The Gastein mountain railways are also highly committed to environmental protection. Extensive photovoltaic systems on the lift facilities generate a significant amount of energy independently. The electricity for cable cars and snowmaking systems otherwise comes from hydropower. At the valley station of the Schlossalmbahn, a large solar installation has been built in combination with a heat pump and ground storage. There are e-charging stations at the valley stations. The fleet for slope grooming is fueled with HVO (up to 85% CO2 savings). Reservoir ponds are mainly filled with meltwater. Reforestation projects are being carried out. Ski slopes are managed extensively.
