Description Alta

The Alta ski area is located in Little Cottonwood Canyon. About 2 km after Snowbird, you reach Alta. The mountain road runs along the ski area up to the Albion Base Station, where the road ends. There are many parking lots along the road from the Wildcat Base to the Albion Base.

The two entry points to the Alta ski area are also connected by a rope tow, the so-called Transfer Tow. You can reach the Rustler Lodge with a short triple chairlift. The Collins Express, a detachable quad chairlift, takes you from the Wildcat Base via a mid-station up into the Alta ski area. Another older double chairlift, called Wildcat, mainly serves challenging runs on the front side of the area.

From the top station of the Collins Express, you can access many steep runs on the front side of the mountain via the High Traverse, or take intermediate runs to the detachable quad chairlift Sugarloaf Express. You can also reach the Sugarloaf Express from the Albion Base with the detachable six-seater chairlift Sunnyside. Beginners will find their area at this chairlift and at the Snowpine chairlift, as the runs here are mostly very easy and wide—perfect for beginners.

The Supreme chairlift takes skiers up to Point Supreme and starts just above the Sugarloaf Express. The runs at Supreme are mostly difficult and best suited for advanced skiers.

For refreshments, there is Alf's Restaurant and the Collins Grill in the ski area, as well as other restaurants at the valley stations and in the hotels in Alta.

From the top station of the Sugarloaf Express, you can cross over to Snowbird into the Mineral Basin. Thanks to the Alta-Snowbird ski pass, you can also use the Snowbird ski area, giving you access to even more runs.

Like Snowbird, Alta offers countless powder runs and mogul slopes, making it a highly recommended ski area for both experts and regular skiers.
