Access, Parking Alta
The Alta ski resort in the state of Utah is located southeast of Salt Lake City in the Wasatch Mountains. It takes only about 40 minutes to reach the ski area from Salt Lake City. The drive follows a mountain road through Little Cottonwood Canyon. Alta is situated at the end of the canyon, just past the Snowbird ski resort.
During winter conditions, administrative regulations come into effect (UDOT Traction Law: rules for snow chains, winter tires, and/or all-wheel drive). The road may be temporarily closed due to avalanche danger.
Parking is available at the base stations Wildcat Base and Albion Base, as well as along the road between the two base stations. Wildcat Base is the main entry point. Albion Base is the entry point for beginners, the ski school, and childcare. On weekends and during holidays, parking must be reserved for a fee, as overcrowding may otherwise occur.
