Kaunertal Glacier is home to possibly the steepest slope in Austria, the Black Ibex with gradients of up to 87.85%. The steepness of the slope on the Falginjoch is impressive! Other attractive black slopes start on the Karlesjoch and Weißseejoch. Kaunertal Glacier is a secret tip for freeriders with lots of unsecured off-piste runs and untouched powder slopes. Various unsecured off-piste runs in the ski resort start at the Karlesjoch, Weißseejoch and Nörderjoch and lead to the Ochsenalmbahn lift or the Fernergarten (ski bus). And for thrill-seekers, there is even an off-piste run to the Langtaufer Valley (Vallelunga) in South Tyrol. But beware - you will need a ski guide for this and a transfer back (90 kilometres).
