Description Val Senales Glacier (Schnalstaler Gletscher)

On the drive through the beautiful Schnalstal valley to the valley station of the glacier cable car in Kurzras, you should definitely make a short detour to the historic village of Karthaus. The cable car floats from Kurzras (2000 m) up to the Grawand at 3212 m in just 6 minutes, passing over steep rock faces.

Up here, you can immediately strap on your skis or snowboard and dive right into the skiing fun. You’ll also enjoy a magnificent view of the mountains, and you can even see all the way over to the ski area of Vent.

A relatively steep run at the beginning, which then becomes flatter, leads down to the Grawand four-seater chairlift at just over 3000 meters. The four-seater chairlift quickly brings you back up to the mountain station of the cable car. Via an easy slope, you can glide over to the two parallel Finail platter lifts. Here you’ll find relatively long, mostly easy glacier runs. From the top station of the lifts, you can enjoy a beautiful glide back across the glacier field to the four-seater chairlift.

For your culinary needs, the Hotel Grawand (the highest hotel in Italy), as well as the Schöne Aussicht (Bella Vista) hut and the Glacier Bar, have you covered.

Another highlight at the Schnalstal Glacier is the ride with the Oetzi-Express to a natural glacier cave. You definitely shouldn’t miss this experience.

In winter, there are also the detachable four-seater chairlifts with weather hoods Teufelsegg and Roter Kofel, as well as the black, 8 km long Schmugglerabfahrt from the glacier down to Kurzras. The Lazaun double chairlift provides access to two intermediate slopes on the other side of Kurzras.
