Access, Parking Tūroa – Mt. Ruapehu

The Tūroa ski area is centrally located on New Zealand's North Island. Well-developed roads lead from all sides of the North Island to Mt. Ruapehu and the ski areas. From State Highway 49, a mountain road leads from Okahune up to the Tūroa Base. There are plenty of parking spaces available here. During busy times on weekends or holidays, you may have to park a bit further from the base station. Shuttle buses are then available to take you to the base station. When the parking lots are full, no one is allowed up the mountain from Okahune. You should always check the road conditions before your trip and bring snow chains. A four-wheel drive vehicle is definitely an advantage. In unfavorable weather conditions, the road and the ski area remain closed.
