The winter sport and thermal spa town of Leukerbad is located at 1411 altitude metres in the middle of a mighty and imposing rocky landscape between the Gemmi/Gemmi Pass on one side and the Torrenthorn on the other side. The hot springs were already well-known in Roman times and they are still a popular spa destination today. The cable car (Torrent lift) brings skiers up to the ski resort from Leukerbad. There are only a few accommodations located directly at the base station (for example, Waldhaus, Quellenhof). Some additional accommodations can be accessed directly from the valley run. Up in the ski resort, there is a dormitory in the Rinderhuette mountain station and accommodations in Hotel Alpengruss as well as accommodations in Flaschen in Pension Flaschen.
