The Sierra Nevada ski resort is located within the national park and is committed to promoting sustainable tourism. The Sierra Nevada National Park is especially known for its rich flora and fauna, as well as its population of Iberian ibex. Waste is separated in the ski resort. The electricity for operating the ski lifts comes mainly from renewable energy sources. However, some facilities still run on diesel engines, and reusable dishes are not yet used everywhere.
