The Red Mountain Resort ski area cares deeply about the beautiful natural surroundings and takes many measures to protect and preserve them. The lifts are powered by hydroelectricity generated by the dams on the Kootenay River. A free shuttle bus connects Rossland with the ski area. However, a lot of disposable tableware is still used in the restaurants.
