Access, Parking Perisher

Perisher is located about 500 kilometers southwest of Sydney (just over a 5-hour drive) and is easily accessible from the capital city Canberra (just under a 2.5-hour drive). From Jindabyne, a road leads to the Bullocks Flat base station. From here, you can conveniently take the Skitube (cog railway) through a 6.3 km long tunnel to Perisher Valley and Blue Cow. This means you do not need to pay a park entry fee, but you must purchase the Skitube ticket in addition to your ski pass. Parking at the Skitube is free, and this is also where you park if you are staying overnight in the ski area. The ski resort itself is located in the Snowy Mountains within Kosciuszko National Park. Therefore, you must pay an expensive entry fee per day and per car if you drive from Jindabyne up to Smiggin Holes, Perisher Village, or Guthega. The route takes you up a steep mountain road, and there is ample parking available in the ski area. Overnight parking is prohibited in Perisher Village and Smiggin Holes. Additionally, it is mandatory to carry snow chains (except for 4WD/all-wheel drive vehicles). Snow chains can be rented in Jindabyne.
