From the Kananaskis Highway, turn off towards Nakiska, pass by Kananaskis Village—a place with two hotels—on your left, and after a short drive, you’ll reach the base station of the Nakiska ski area.
Here, the detachable quad chairlifts Silver Chair and Olympic Chair start almost parallel to each other, carrying winter sports enthusiasts up the mountain. From the top stations of both lifts, you can ski down to the fast quad chairlift Gold Chair Express. This lift takes you up to the highest point of the ski area at 2,260 meters.
From up here, you have a magnificent view of the Canadian Rockies and Kananaskis Country. The runs at the top are mostly difficult, but there is also an easy bypass all the way down to the valley, as well as the Monster Glades for experts. From the easy run, several trails branch off into the forest right at the top, offering wonderful glade runs through open woodland.
After the mid-station, the runs are mostly intermediate to easy and lead through forest clearings down to the valley. All the slopes are excellently groomed.
In the lower section, there is a slow-skiing zone that leads to the double chairlift Bronze Chair. This lift is ideal for beginners. Near the base station, you’ll find the ski school and a beginner area with two magic carpets.
The lodges at the base and mid-stations invite you to take a break. At the very top of the mountain, you can only enjoy the beautiful view, but unfortunately, there are no lodges there.
