From Icefields Parkway 93, the road branches off and heads up towards the Marmot Basin ski area. After 11 kilometers, you reach the parking lots of the expansive ski resort. You can make a quick stop to purchase ski passes at the Caribou Chalet (1704 m) and then continue up to the parking areas. These are arranged along the slope, so you can access the piste immediately without a long walk.
From the parking lots, a very easy slope leads down to the detachable four-seater chairlifts Eagle Express and Canadian Rockies Express. From the top stations of both lifts, you can ski down to the Eagle Ridge four-seater chairlift or carve your way back to the base station via wide forest runs.
The fast four-seater chairlift Paradise Quad Chair then takes you to intermediate and advanced slopes above the tree line at Caribou Ridge at 2293 m, where the "Outer Limits," a freeskiing zone, is also located.
To reach the highest point in the Marmot Basin ski area, follow the easy run 33 to the Knob Chair double chairlift. This lift takes you up to 2410 m, just below the summit of Marmot Peak.
From here, you can take a moderately difficult slope all the way back down to the valley or choose from nearly a dozen challenging runs, including Charlie's Bowl.
From the top station of the Eagle Ridge four-seater chairlift, you have a choice of slopes ranging from easy to difficult, and you also have easy access to the very challenging runs in the Eagle East Bowl. Nearly all runs lead back down to the valley.
The School-House triple chairlift takes you from the base station to the parking lots. Alternatively, you can ski directly to the parking area by keeping to the left. Thanks to good signage, you can easily find your parking spot again. Beginners love the slopes at the School House Chair and the magic carpet.
For refreshments, the Eagle Chalet and Paradise Chalet are available at the mid-mountain station. At the base station, you'll find the Caribou Chalet with a bar, cafeteria, and dining lounge. Here, you can also end your ski day in comfort with some après-ski.
