Nestled amidst a vast and impressive rocky landscape, Leukerbad is situated at around 1,400 meters. From Leukerbad, a cable car takes you up to the Gemmipass at 2,350 meters. Up here, a short additional cable car brings cross-country skiers to beautiful trails in the high alpine world.
Skiers will find their territory on the opposite side at Torrent. From the edge of the village, the 80-person cable car floats up to the Rinderhütte at 2,340 meters in just five minutes. From here, a wealth of possibilities awaits.
You can reach most of the runs on Torrent with the Rinderhütte-Schwalbennest six-seater chairlift. This chairlift takes you up to 2,610 meters, the highest point in the ski area. Runs of all levels of difficulty lead down to the Rinderhütte. From here, you can continue down via Torrentalp all the way to Flaschen. From there, you have the option to take a six-seater gondola back up to the Rinderhütte.
You should also try the valley run down to Leukerbad. Via a steep and narrow ski path with a skier’s tunnel, you reach Feuillerette, from where you can branch off into the village of Leukerbad or continue to the valley station of the cable car, which will take you back up to the Rinderhütte. For après-ski in Leukerbad, people don’t head to bars or pubs, but to the thermal baths. These baths are highly recommended, as they are beautifully integrated into the village and offer every imaginable comfort.
