The La Grave ski area is world-renowned as a freeride paradise. The lifts take guests of the winter sports area up to over 3,500 m. Due to alpine hazards, this unsecured ski area is suitable for skiing and snowboarding only for experts—a local guide is highly recommended. On the Glacier de la Girose, there is a drag lift as well as marked runs for skiing. From the top station of La Grave, you can ski over to the Les 2 Alpes ski area; the return is by snowcat. However, the connection between the winter sports areas depends on the weather, which can change rapidly in the high mountains, so a longer taxi ride back may be necessary.
