Description Balderschwang – Hochschelpen/Riedberger Horn

Coming from the Riedberg Pass (1,420 m), you first reach the Riedbergerhornbahn, a double chairlift that ends at an altitude of 1,418 m, just below the 1,789 m high Riedberger Horn. On the other side of the Riedberger Horn lies the Grasgehren ski area.

An intermediate slope with challenging variants leads back down to the valley station. Here, the Raubachlift and Angerlift are in operation, both especially suitable for beginners. To get to Schelpen, you need to cross the road and glide over to the Schwarzenberg drag lift, which then takes you up to Schelpen.

From the top, beautiful forest runs lead back down to the Schwarzenberglift and the detachable four-seater chairlift Schelpenbahn. The Schelpenbahn is accompanied by the Gelbhansekopf drag lift, which only operates during peak times. From the Hochschelpenbahn, you can also take the easy run No. 5 back down to the valley or head over to the Hochschelpen drag lift. The Hochschelpenlift takes winter sports enthusiasts up to the highest point in the ski area at 1,500 m.

The slopes here are mostly easy and pleasantly wide. The easy Lappach run leads to the two Gschwend lifts, which open up very easy slopes and take winter sports enthusiasts into the village of Balderschwang. To get back to the Schelpenbahn, you need to cross the stream and walk to the lift. At the Schelpenbahn, you’ll find wonderful challenging but well-groomed forest runs that lead down below the Schelpenbahn.

The slopes in the Balderschwang ski area are mostly in wooded terrain, and there is also a variant run especially for advanced skiers. On the Hochschelpen side, cozy huts invite you to take a break, and beginners have half a dozen valley lifts to practice on. For après-ski, there is a charming umbrella bar at the base station of the Schelpenbahn, where you can round off your ski day.
