Together with communities from Oberallgäu and Bregenzerwald, Balderschwang joined forces in 2008 to form the first cross-border Austrian-German nature park, Nagelfluhkette. Forest areas may not be entered by skiers, and the resort promotes its offerings with ski buses. In the ski huts, products from local agriculture are mostly used.
