Description Arber

From Bodenmais, Zwiesel, Bayerisch Eisenstein, Lam, or Lohberg, you can reach the valley stations of the cable cars and lifts of the Großer Arber ski area. The Arber six-person gondola quickly takes you up to just below the Arber summit. To reach the very top of Großer Arber, there is a short Osthang drag lift, which only operates when there is sufficient snow.

From the mountain station of the gondola, the challenging Weltcup run starts directly below the gondola, as well as the difficult Osthang run. Both lead directly down to the valley station. Via a kind of connecting trail called Schmugglerweg, you reach the wide slopes at Nordhang and Sonnenhang, which are also served by the detachable six-person chairlift with weather covers, Nordhang. The valley station of the Nordhang lift is located very close to the gondola valley station.

The detachable six-person Sonnenhang chairlift, which is specially equipped for children with automatic safety bars, also serves the Sonnenhang runs. From the intermediate Nordhang and Sonnenhang runs, an easy slope leads over to the Thurnhof lifts. At the two parallel drag lifts, beginners usually find their territory, and there is a well-maintained Funslope/Family Cross Park and a parallel giant slalom course with timing at the lifts. This is also where the well-equipped ArBär Kinderland with several conveyor belts is located—a perfect area for families and beginners.

Returning to the gondola and chairlift is easy from the mountain station of the Thurnhof lifts via an easy run. The slopes at Arber are all very well groomed and wide, giving you plenty of space to enjoy your ski day. For refreshments, you can stop at the Gasthaus zur Gondelbahn at the valley station, the Arber-Schutzhaus, the Berghaus Sonnenfels, the Eisensteiner Hütte, the Arber Stadl, or the Thurnhofstüberl. There are plenty of parking spaces along the main road from the Thurnhof lifts to the gondola. A highlight at Arber is also the Kuschelgondel, which is equipped with red leather seats and decorations.
