Advanced skiing, freeriding (powder snow skiing) Alagna Valsesia/Gressoney-La-Trinité/Champoluc/Frachey (Monterosa Ski)

The Alagna lift company can be found online at freerideparadise.it, and indeed, there are probably few ski resorts in the Alps where such a large proportion of skiers use avalanche airbags. The off-piste possibilities are immense, especially when you include the routes accessible by helicopter. The day tour over the Grenzgletscher to Zermatt and back to Val d’Ayas via Plateau Rosa is legendary. For true freeriding, the ski area is therefore perfect. Within the secured ski area, the challenges are limited. The three black runs are groomed daily, and you’ll find moguls along the lift line of the Alpe Mandria chairlift—though this is not an official run.

Information for advanced skiers, freeriders
  • very many freeride/deep snow areas
  • no mogul slopes
  • no extremely difficult, steep and unprepared runs (Double Diamonds)

Most difficult run
  • Nera · Length 0.5 km · Elevation difference 200 m
For this short black run, you spend quite a long time on lifts (cable car from Stafal to St. Anna and chairlift to the Bettaforca Pass), which is why you usually have the Nera all to yourself.

General note: Always mind the avalanche warnings and barriers, please. Never ski into a closed and unsecured area.
