Description Tignes/Val d'Isère

First, the road branches off to Tignes Les Brevieres, from where you can take an eight-person gondola into the Tignes/Val d'Isère ski area. This is also the lowest point of the ski area at 1550 m. Highly recommended for day visitors, as it saves you the drive all the way to Tignes or Val d'Isère.

At the dam, the road splits—either up to Tignes at 2100 m or along Lac du Chevril to Val d'Isère at 1850 m. In winter, the road ends shortly after the village in Le Fornet at an altitude of 1930 m.

As soon as you reach Tignes, you’ll see the many lifts climbing up the mountain slopes on both sides. At the end of the valley, after passing Lac de Tignes, the lifts to the Grand Motte Glacier begin. You can take the underground funicular "Funiculaire de Grande Motte" directly up to the glacier region. Alternatively, two fast detachable four-seater chairlifts will take you to the foot of the glacier.

To reach the very top, at the highest point of 3456 m, take the Grande Motte cable car. From up here, you can carve down wide glacier slopes and enjoy the magnificent panorama.

The detachable six-seater chairlifts Bollin and Fresse take you directly from Tignes Val Claret towards Val d'Isère. The detachable six-seater chairlift Tufs also leads up to the 2704 m high Toviere, from where you can also ski over to Val d'Isère. The 10-person Tovière gondola, which starts directly from Tignes Le Lac, also ends here. From Val d'Isère, the eight-seater Tommeuses chairlift goes up to Tovière.

In Val d'Isère, there are several ways to start your ski day—from La Daille, you can take either the ten-person La Daille gondola or the underground funicular Funival up to Rocher de Bellevarde. Directly from the village of Val d'Isère, the 3S Olympique lift, accompanied by two detachable four-seater chairlifts, takes you up to Rocher de Bellevarde.

Wide, easy, and very broad runs await winter sports enthusiasts at the Grand Pre and Borsat Express four-seater chairlifts. The challenging men's downhill Face leads all the way back to the village. On the other side of Val d'Isère, the ten-person Solaise gondola takes you up to the 2560 m high Solaise. Up here, you’ll mostly find easy slopes, served by several four- and six-seater chairlifts.

To get further over to the slopes at Col de l'Iseran, you can either float over the ridge with the six-seater Lessières Express chairlift or ski down to Le Laisinant and take the detachable six-seater chairlift of the same name up, to reach the slopes below Col de l'Iseran and Le Fornet. From Le Fornet, you can take the cable car and then the 10-person Vallon de l'Iseran gondola up to Col de l'Iseran. An easy run leads to the detachable four-seater Cascade Express chairlift, which serves the glacier.

The Montet glacier drag lift takes you up to 3200 m and serves easy glacier runs that are also open in summer. The Cema four-seater chairlift then takes you back out of the glacier bowl to Col de l'Iseran.

To return to Val d'Isère, you take the Lessières Express six-seater chairlift back over the ridge and then ski down via Solaise directly into the village of Val d'Isère.

You can round off your wonderful ski day in the many bars and restaurants in the villages. The highlight is La Folie Douce on the mountain between Val d'Isère and Tignes.
