Splügen is located in the Viamala region in Graubünden. The cable cars are situated directly on the Swiss motorway A13. The A13 is an important north-south connection between St. Margrethen/Chur and Bellinzona/Lugano. Around Splügen, the A13 is two lanes, otherwise partly four lanes. Coming from Bellinzona/Lugano, you pass through the San Bernardino Tunnel shortly before Splügen. In addition to the Swiss motorway vignette, there are no further charges for the tunnel. Parking is free of charge.
