The Les Portes du Soleil ski area has been one of the largest ski resorts in the world for over 50 years. It connects twelve sub-areas on both sides of the Swiss-French border, about an hour's drive from Geneva. The destinations on the French side are Abondance, Avoriaz, Châtel, Les Gets, and Morzine, while on Swiss soil you’ll find Champéry, Morgins, Torgon, Les Crosets, and Champoussin in the Val-d'Illiez. Thanks to its sheer size, the Les Portes du Soleil winter sports area offers an enormous variety of ski runs, spread both above and below the tree line for plenty of variety. Several snow parks attract freestyle enthusiasts, and there are also beginner and children's areas. Freeriders will also find plenty to enjoy in this cross-border ski area. In addition to alpine skiing, Les Portes du Soleil offers countless other activities such as snowshoeing and winter hiking trails, cross-country ski tracks, dog and horse-drawn sleigh rides, skijoring, and much more.
