Environmental protection of the ski resort Latemar – Obereggen/Pampeago/Predazzo

The ski resort is deeply committed to preserving the unique natural landscape in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites. Since 2004, the Obereggen lift company has operated an environmental management system in accordance with ISO standard 14001, making it the first cable car company in the Dolomites to do so. Since 2009, the electricity for operating the lifts and snow cannons has been sourced from renewable energy generated by South Tyrolean hydropower. Even the Oberholz mountain hut is heated with geothermal energy. The village of Obereggen is supplied with heat from its own district heating plant using regional biomass. The use of ski buses is promoted in the Eggental and Val di Fiemme (Fleimstal).
