The modern 24-person 3S gondola connects Lognan with the Aiguille des Grands Montets. It replaces the 60-person Grands Montets cable car, which was destroyed by a fire in 2018.
The modern gondola is part of the complete renewal of the lift connection from the valley town of Argentière to the Aiguille des Grands Montets. The lower section from Argentière to Lognan is served by the 10-person Lognan gondola, which was built as part of the same project.
