Nostalgic gondola lift, ski connection between the two mountains involves some pushing, parking feesDescription Borovets
The Borovets ski area consists of three sections: Sitnyakovo, Yastrebets, and Markudjik, which are accessible via a gondola lift, modern chairlifts, and drag lifts.
In front of the large Rila hotel complex and the charming village, the Martinovi six-seater chairlift starts, leading to slopes of all difficulty levels. A little further to the left, the detachable Sitnyakovo Express four-seater chairlift takes you up to 1,780 m, thus providing access to the entire mountain. At the top station, there is a short drag lift, and the runs lead through forest clearings back down to the valley. At the base station, there are three more drag lifts reserved for beginners.
To reach the slopes at Yastrebets and Markudjik, you need to take the nearly 5 km long Yastrebets six-seater gondola up to the mountain of the same name at 2,369 m. After about 30 minutes, you reach the top station and can either ski down to the mid-station of the gondola and the detachable Yastrebets Express four-seater chairlift, or head further over to the slopes below the 2,925 m high Musala mountain.
Partly parallel drag lifts and a chairlift provide access here between 2,144 m and 2,550 m to wide intermediate slopes on open terrain. There is also an easy drag lift especially suitable for beginners. Slightly below the top station of the gondola, there are several restaurants for a break. Beginners who prefer the good snow conditions up here must take the gondola back down to the valley. Since the top station is located on a mountain peak, you can use a 200 m long conveyor belt to go further up.
The detachable Yastrebets Express four-seater chairlift serves three wide forest runs in the lower part of the mountain. To return to Sitnyakovo, you need to take the intermediate Yasrebetz 1 run and then ski routes. Some pushing is necessary here.
In the village, there are many charming small restaurants that prepare fresh dishes on a charcoal grill. Après-ski here is not loud; instead, people sit in the evening sun and enjoy food and drinks.
