Skiresort.info Test of the ski resort Portillo
Total result: 2.5 out of 5 stars

You can start the ski day at the Hotel Portillo with the double chair El Plateau. From the top station you can take the Va et Vient Slingshot lift Condor up to an advanced run. The intermediate slope Plateau takes you back to the double chair. A quad and 3 t-bars are serving the same slope on this side of the ski resort. The advanced run Garcanta takes you through the rocks back to the Hotel Portillo. To ski the other runs on the other side of the resort, you have to push you around the Hotel Portillo to the double chair Conejo or to the quad La Laguna to come to the intermediate run Juncalillo, where you can ski down to the triple chair Juncalillo, located at the lowest point of the resort at 2580m. With the triple chair you hover over the mountain road up to the mountain. Now you can ski or ride back to the hotel or again up with the quad La Laguna to the second Va et Vient Slingshot lift Roca Jack. On this lift you have two short advanced runs. If you want to go back to the other side of the resort (Plateau), you have to push you around the Hotel Portillo to the double chair. For lunch you can only go to the Hotel Portillo which is not recommendable or the not very friendly mountain hut near the top station of the double chair Plateau. Recapitulating, you can say that Portillo has only two really slopes on every side of the resort which are not connected together, you always have to push you around the Hotel Portillo to come from the one to the other side. If you go skiing in Chile, forget Portillo and stay one day longer in the resorts (La Parva, El Colorado, Valle Nevado) near Santiago...
