Highlights:
Very good selection of slopes, modern lifts, large freeride area, panoramic views, family-friendly, excellent slope grooming, very sunny ski area, mountain restaurant La Motta, large snow park with funslope, direct train connectionNegative points:
Parking fees at the valley stations, about a 10-minute walk to the Postbus at the end of the Traumpiste in Sent (a paid taxi, however, goes all the way to the end of the piste)Description Scuol – Motta Naluns
From the edge of Scuol, directly from the RhB train station, the eight-seater gondola lifts take you up to Motta Naluns at 2,146 m. Here, three magic carpets are available, especially for beginners. From there, the detachable six-seater chairlift Naluns takes you up to Schlivera at 2,420 m. Along this lift, you’ll find sunny, easy, and very wide slopes. From Schlivera, you can either ski down to Ftan (1,684 m) or to Jonvrai, where three detachable four-seater chairlifts start.
From Ftan, where there are also several parking spaces, you can take the eponymous detachable four-seater chairlift with weather protection hoods and the detachable six-seater chairlift with hoods back up into the area. The runs down to Ftan are mostly easy and lead through forest in the lower section.
The runs down to Jonvrai (2,158 m) are mostly intermediate, and then you’re spoiled for choice as to which of the three four-seater chairlifts to take. The detachable four-seater chairlift with weather protection hoods Clünas takes you back to Schlivera and to the runs all the way down to the valley. The detachable four-seater chairlift Mot da Ri takes you to the more challenging runs and, via an easy slope, to the Champatsch drag lifts, which bring you to the highest point in the ski area at 2,783 m. The runs here are easy to intermediate and lead across treeless slopes. But you should also take the detachable four-seater chairlift Salaniva, which goes up to 2,710 m. From here, the 10 km long dream run down to Sent starts, from where you can take the ski bus back to the valley station. Of course, you can also ski back down to Jonvrai via easy to difficult runs.
The runs in Scuol are all (except for the valley runs and those to Ftan) above the tree line, offering many opportunities for off-piste skiing. There are numerous charming restaurants in the area where you can enjoy good food and drinks.
The very beautiful and varied valley run down to Scuol ends directly at the valley station, where there is another platter lift, especially for beginners. The cozy umbrella bars Mar-Motta and Viva-Bar invite you to enjoy après-ski. A visit to the Bogn Engiadina adventure pool is also very relaxing, with its spacious sauna area, steam bath, saltwater pool, whirlpool, and outdoor pool (open in winter as well).
