Highlights:
Plenty of open ski terrain, varied and snow-sure slopes, panoramic views of the Valais mountains, sunny ski area, gondola lift up to 3,111 mNegative points:
Parking fees at the valley station, valley run does not end at the cable carDescription Lauchernalp – Lötschental
From Wiler, you can take the cable car up to almost 2,000 m. From there, the fast six-seater chairlift Lauchernalp-Stafel takes you up to 2,100 m. Next, a detachable three-seater chairlift continues uphill over wide, treeless slopes to Gandegg at 2,720 m.
The panorama is fantastic: steep rock faces with small, blue-tinged glaciers. Now you can choose between easy, intermediate, and difficult runs. There is something for everyone here. The Märwig drag lift also takes you back up to Gandegg.
Since the end of November 2003, a 15-person gondola lift runs from Gandegg up to Hockenhorngrat at 3,111 m. This means even more runs are available. From Gandegg, you can also carve down wide, perfectly sloped hills to Lauchernalp—an unforgettable experience, even off the marked trails.
In the evening, you can either take the cable car back down to the valley or ski the easy valley run to Wiler. From the end of the valley run to the cable car, it’s a short walk through the beautiful village of Wiler. Here, you can admire the masks for Fasching (Tschäggättä) on some of the houses. This tradition is still very important in the Lötschental.
