The Chastreix ski area is located on the western slope of the extinct volcano Puy de Sancy (1,886 m) in the French Massif Central. The slopes for skiing beneath the secondary peak Puy de Chambasse (1,730 m) are almost entirely above the tree line and are served by drag lifts. In the Chastreix winter sports area, there are also cross-country skiing trails, snowshoe and winter hiking paths, tobogganing, dog sled rides, and more on offer.
