The evaluation is done as follows

Access, Parking Tūroa – Mt. Ruapehu

The ski resort of Tūroa is situated centrally on New Zealand’s North Island. Well-constructed roads lead from all sides of the North Island to Mt. Ruapehu and the ski resorts. From the State Highway 49, a mountain road leads from Okahune up to the Tūroa Base. Lots of parking is available here. At very busy times at weekends or on public holidays, you need to park some distance from the base station. Shuttle buses then take you to the base station. When the car parks are full, no further entry is allowed to the mountain from Okahune. You should always check the condition of the road before you leave and carry snow chains. A 4-wheel-drive vehicle is very useful. In adverse weather conditions, the road and the ski resort are closed.
