Obertauern is located in the Province of Salzburg at the top of a pass and is accessed from the Ennstal valley and from Lungau over a well-constructed mountain pass. The steepness of the mountain road leading to Obertauern means snow chains are always advisable during heavy snowfalls. Parking is available (free of charge) directly at the lifts throughout the town.
