Slope offering, variety of runs
The Ankogel ski resort offers mainly very nice intermediate slopes. Advanced skiers let off steam underneath the Ankogel in the high-alpine terrain on the black slopes which are offered. Beginners can find optimal slopes in the valley.
Run location
above tree line, under tree line
The Ankogel lift runs in two sections up the mountain of the same name. The special feature of this cable car is that is consists of multiple chambers. There are three in the upper section and two in the lower section. Otherwise there are two t-bar lifts which run parallel underneath the mountain station. There is a t-bar lift and a j-bar lift for practicing in the valley.

Due to the high-alpine location, a lack of snow is usually unheard of. In the event that this happens however, snow cannons assist with snow-making all the way down into the valley.

- Artificial snow-making

50 % of the slopes have snow-making capabilities
- The valley run is open most of the time.
The slope preparation is excellent.
The slope preparation in the high-alpine terrain requires a lot of care. The slopes on the Ankogel are in very good condition and even the challenging valley run is optimally prepared on into the afternoon.
Tip: By new snow, an optimal slope prepartion is not always possible, even with a large effort. In addition, the new snow can not combine with the snow lying underneath and moguls are created quickly. For safety reasons, usually no slope preparation is possible during operating times.
The Ankogel lifts are located about 3 km behind the village of Mallnitz in the idyllic Seebach valley. When coming from the North, the best way to access Mallnitz is through the Tauernschleuse (Tauern motor rail). The motor rail leaves every hour and travels between Boecking in the Gastein valley and Mallnitz (no reservation is possible). The Knoten Spittal-Millstaetter See exit on the expressway from Villach is about 40 km away.

Orientation (trail map, information boards, sign-postings)
Trail map and overview maps:
The trail map depicts the ski resort very well and the slope numbers are easy to recognize. Unfortunately, not all the mountain restaurants are listed by name and the altitudes of the valley stations are missing.
Information boards and sign-postings on the slopes:
Information boards with current slope status are located at the ticket booths as well as at the mountain and valley stations. The slopes are all marked with numbers. On certain intersections, there are no signs indicating where the slopes lead to.
A high priority is placed on cleanliness
Environmentally friendly ski operation
There is information regarding "Nature and the environment" in the trail map. They are careful about separating waste and gentle tourism is practiced on the Ankogel.

Mountain restaurants, ski huts, gastronomy
The mountain restaurants are distributed strategically throughout the ski resort. The Alpengasthof Hochalmblick, located directly underneath the middle station and the Koefele Alm at the valley lifts are to be recommended. However, the Hannoverhaus in the mountain station and the restaurant located in the middle station are showing their age. The Gasthof Alpenrose next to the valley station is also recommendable. It is not located directly on the slope though.
