Environmental friendliness of the ski resort Lauchernalp – Lötschental

Train connections from Thun, Berne, Biel and Domodossola (Italy) are comprehensively promoted. The train journey from Berne to the ski resort takes around 100 minutes. The Lauchernalp at 1,968 m is completely car-free and the only access in winter is by cable car. Restricted areas have been created to protect flora and fauna. The lifts are powered by renewable energy from the Milibach hydroelectric power plant.

  • No direct train connection
    Goppenstein train station is around 5 kilometres from the ski resort. This is the end/start point for the Lötschberg car train (Kandersteg-Goppenstein). There are hourly, direct train connections from Berne and from Domodossola (Italy). The PostBus runs from Goppenstein directly to the cable car base station.

  • A ski bus connects Goppenstein to all villages in the Lötschental valley. Free use of the ski bus is included in ski passes for 2 days or more.
