Environmental friendliness of the ski resort Les Sybelles – Le Corbier/La Toussuire/Les Bottières/St Colomban des Villards/St Sorlin/St Jean d’Arves

Les Sybelles utilizes many small measures to reduce the CO2 footprint of the ski operation between La Chal and St. Colomban. The snowcats are powered with biodiesel and use degradable lubricants. On days with less visitors, parallel lifts are closed and the detachable lifts travel more slowly. By a reduction from 5 m/s to 4 m/s, they require 30% less electricity. The red slopes are only groomed every two to three days and the black slopes only every seven days. This saves energy and thereby reduces emissions.
After a slope construction project, a three year replanting project takes place. The connection over the L'Ouillon was especially difficult because the lift tracks had to be selected so that only minimal earth movement was required and the peak itself was off limits.
The construction style of the Le Corbier and La Toussuire stations may cause discussions about aesthetics, but the buildings enable guests to leave their cars parked during their entire stay.

The community Villarembert – Le Corbier adopted a charter for sustainable development in 2009. In this charter, they committed themselves to achieving 20 goals in various areas (traffic, environmental protection, water, waste) in order to reduce the CO2 footprint.
