Lake Louise, located at the Trans Canada Highway 1, has only about 5 houses and two filling stations. You have another 3 km to the Lake Louise, where the Chateau Lake Louiseis located. If you drive to the other direction for 3 km you reach the Lodge of the Ten Peaks, Whiskyjack Lodge and the high speed quad Glacier Express and the high speed 6-person gondola Grizzly Express. From here you can start your tour through the ski resort. Following to the quad the high speed six person chair Top of the World takes you up to the Eagle Ridge from where you can reach every lift in the resort. Years ago it was possible to take a gondola from the Trans Canada Highway up to the ski resort. Today the gondola is closed. At the back side of the ski resort you find a lot of steep runs, especially for advanced skiers. The Paradise Bowl and the steep runs at the Ptarmigan quad are very recommendable. At the high speed quad Larch you find runs from beginner to expert. At the base station of the two quads is the Temple Lodge, very good for lunch. From here you can ski also down a very long and flat slope back to the parking lots (not recommendable for snowboarders). At the front side you find easy to intermediate runs through the forest down to the base station. With the Summit Platter you can go up to the highest point in the ski resort (2637m). From here you have a very good access to the Back Bowls with fantastic steep deep snow runs. From the top of the ski resort you have a very nice view to the Lake Louise, to the Victoria Glacier and the Canadian Rockies. At the base station is the Sunny T-bar especially for beginners.
After skiing or riding you can go to the Lodge of the Ten Peaks (with open fire place) or the Kokanee Kabin for après-ski to enjoy a whisky or a cold beer. In the evening you have not so much action in Lake Louise, the perfect place to relax. You can take a bath in the hot tub, go dining, join the hotel bar, or if you like more night-life or après-ski you have to go to Banff, 60 km from Lake Louise.
