Environmental friendliness of the ski resort Kitzsteinhorn/Maiskogel – Kaprun

The National Park Hohe Tauern is a partner of the ski resort of Kitzsteinhorn/Maiskogel. Pioneering environmental protection initiatives have been introduced in this high-alpine holiday and leisure region, including sourcing of energy and water from the Grubbach combined pumping station and power plant (hydraulic power plant in summer and pumping station in winter), as well as solar panels, recultivation of slope surfaces and vegetation-free slope areas, waste sorting and prevention. In general, the Kitzsteinhorn and Maiskogel resorts make great efforts to ensure responsible and sustainable management of nature and its resources. The lifts are modern and efficient and there are protected areas for forests and wildlife. Winter sports enthusiasts are also encouraged to use public transport.
