Alta is a popular ski resort for skiers in the Wasatch Mountains in Utah. The route to the resort passes through the Little Cottonwood Canyon and past Snowbird, which is just a few minutes’ drive away. Visitors can park at the Wildcat base, alongside the ski-in/ski-out hotels and at the Albion base, where the road ends in winter. It is one of the few winter sports resorts in the USA that does not allow snowboarding and is a resort purely for skiers. It also has a reputation for its excellent snow quality and demanding slopes, which makes it a popular destination for very good skiers.
