Kids on Skis – for free – International pilot project to promote winter sports

The Aletsch Arena is a partner of the international pilot project “Kids on Skis – for free”. This winter, 200 young skiers aged three to five have the opportunity to take part in the all-inclusive worry-free package comprising five days of ski school, equipment hire, lift pass and accommodation (with accompanying person) free of charge. The goal of the joint campaign by various destinations is to promote winter sports in the Alpine region and teach 50,000 children to ski or snowboard for free.

Season Ski Pass with extras: new collaboration with Feldberg, Hochschwarzwald

For several winter seasons now, Aletsch Bahnen has partnered with the destinations 4 Vallées (CH), Portes du Soleil (CH/FR), la Fouly and San Domenico Ski (IT). The Aletsch Arena Season Ski Pass is valid in each of these ski resorts for five days per season. This winter, Aletsch Bahnen has launched a new collaboration with the Feldberg ski area in the Hochschwarzwald region of Germany.

Black slope from Eggishorn view point now open

Aletsch Bahnen has reopened the return slope from Eggishorn in time for winter.
Following comprehensive expert reports by outside specialists and the completion of work that needed doing, the black slope is once again safe to ski on.



Skimovie system now installed at the Golmen lift

The Skiline facility is back in service again directly adjacent to the Golmenegg ski lift on Riederalp. In recent years, this facility had been freely accessible below the middle station of the Blausee–Bettmeralp chairlift. Now guests can again use the Skiline facility to make their skiing experience even more fun and more challenging.

Night skiing on Riederalp and Bettmeralp

From Winter 2023/24, the Night Skiing programme is being expanded and improved. In addition to the existing offering at the Blausee–Bettmeralp chairlift, the lift at Moosfluh valley station and Golmen Lift Riederalp will be equipped with lighting for this purpose. This upgrade will replace the Night Skiing programme at the Alpenrose Riederalp training lift by expanding the number of slopes available at Night Skiing times and improving their quality. "Inschi Ischbahn" – an ice rink for the Fieschertal valley

The floodlit natural ice rink measures 25x35m. As of this winter, guests and locals can enjoy ice-skating, hockey or curling in the Fieschertal valley. Weather permitting, the natural ice rink will remain open from December to the end of February.

Glacier Panorama Tour – Experience 2.0


The Aletsch Bahnen Glacier Panorama Tour has been revamped this winter with the objective of offering skiers and snowboarders a challenging circular tour through the entire ski area of the Aletsch Arena. It lets guests discover the most beautiful slopes and the most stunning view points with their views across the Great Aletsch Glacier.

Gletschi Tour – Experience 2.0

The Gletschi Tour is a winter sports tour through the Aletsch Arena for the whole family. You’re always on Gletschi’s trail as you ski the red and blue slopes. Fun, adventure and variety await you throughout the Gletschi Tour, which takes in all the highlights such as Family Fun Slopes, snow tubing, Skimovie and Co., etc.

"Gletschiland" - indoor playground at the Bachtla Sports Center

The Bachtla Sports Center Foundation is launching a new offer for families: "Gletschiland" at the Bachtla Sports Center on Bettmeralp. The new indoor playground offers space for 120 children from the age of 4. The indoor playground will be officially opened on December 18, 2022. The "Gletschiland" will be open daily from then on. Admission price CHF 10 per day.

Mini-Boardercross with Ski-Movie Bettmeralp

Upgrading of the skiline facilities on the Bettmeralp: another skiline course is being opened this winter beneath the middle station on the Blausee chairlift. It will include a mini-bordercross (“mixed race”) with a banked turn, small jumps, rollers and dips. Visitors using this course are filmed with a camera. They can later watch their own rides online using a ski data card.

New snowtubing run at Bättmer-Hitta

A snowtubing course especially for young visitors is being constructed this winter next to the Bättmer-Hitta restaurant.
Length of the course: around 250 metres
The new snowtubing run can be used free of charge. Its opening times are the same as the pistes provided there is enough snow. No booking is required. No minimum age limit.

New sledge run from Moosfluh to Riederalp/Bettmeralp

Renovation of Bergrestaurant Bettmerhorn

Bettmeralp Bahnen AG has been refurbishing the Bettmerhorn mountain restaurant over summer
2016, at the same time making improvements to the infrastructure, including the toilet facilities.
With these construction measures, Bettmeralp Bahnen AG is placing the focus on a higher quality of
restaurant service that involves a special mountain experience.
